Britain’s Brightest is a talent show with a twist: rather than sing or dance, contestants must use the power of their minds to tackle a series of nail-biting challenges and compete for a prize of £50,000.
Hosted by Clare Balding, the series features 24 ordinary people with extraordinary minds who qualified from a nationwide audition process. To stand a chance of winning the prize, contestants must prove that theirs is the best all-round brain. Across the series, they’ll be tested on everything from emotional intelligence to the ability to multi-task. Can they accurately assess the ages of a crowd of strangers? Can they win a race to puzzle their way out of a locked room by detonating the door? Some challenges feature celebrities but contestants can’t afford to become starry-eyed as only one can be crowned Britain’s Brightest and claim the £50,000 prize.
In each of the first four shows, the winner books a place in the final and the runner-up advances to the play-off. The final will feature the winners of the first four shows plus the winner of the play-off. What’s more, viewers can play along at home too – who’s the brightest on your sofa?
