RDF BEATS OFF STRONG COMPETITION TO WIN THE GRIERSON GONG AT THIS YEAR’S CEREMONY

10 November 2016, London: RDF Television, part of Banijay Group, are thrilled to announce
‘The Secret Life of 4, 5 And 6 Year Olds’ won the prestigious Grierson Award for ‘Best Entertaining Documentary’ at this year’s star-studded award ceremony  hosted by comedian and impressionist John Culshaw.

Following the one off pilot, which was Channel 4’s highest-rated single documentary of 2015, the second series quickly followed. 50 children went to the specially rigged school, where they met each other for the first time, made friends, played together – sometimes harmoniously, sometimes less so – and learnt skills that would stay with them forever.

The show received critical acclaim in the Press, winning rave reviews from numerous publications:

“An adorably cute and often extremely funny insight into how children view the world” Daily Mail
“Hilarious and heart-warming” The Daily Telegraph
“Now the show has returned for a six-part series, and it is every bit as endearing’ The Times

Facing strong competition in its category the 4, 5 and 6 year olds came out on top. Executive Producer Teresa Watkins commented: ‘I am over the moon that ‘Secret Life’ (sic) has been recognised by The Grierson Trust and won the Best Entertainment Doc. category. This award is for everyone who worked tirelessly on this very special production.’

Jim Allen, Managing Director of RDF Television said: ‘Winning this award is a fantastic achievement for RDF and testament to the creativity and originality of the show and crew. Huge congratulations to the production team and to Teresa for leading such an ambitious and innovative production’.

Channel 4 has since re-commissioned a further 6×60 series. Tune into the brand new series of ‘The Secret Life of Four Year Olds’ on Tuesday 15th November at 8:00pm on Channel 4 with ‘The Secret Life of Five Year Olds’ broadcasting later in November and further episodes in the new year.
