AWARD WINNING DOCUMENTARY SERIES TO RETURN TO CHANNEL 4 THIS AUTUMN

RDF Television, part of Banijay UK today announces “The Secret Life of Four and Five Year Olds” will return to Channel 4 this autumn. Following the huge success of last year’s series and the gender special shown earlier this year, the 6×60’ order will once again lift the lid on the riveting drama of life in the playroom.

Starting life as Channel 4’s highest rating single documentary in 2015, the series has captured the hearts of the nation and critics alike, winning a Grierson award for ‘Best Entertaining Documentary’ earlier this year and previously the Broadcast award for ‘Best Popular Factual Programme’.

The new series will be filmed over 6 weeks this summer in a specially rigged school in Epping shining the light on arguably the most crucial period in a child’s development, where children must adapt from family life into the social arena of school. “The Secret Life of Four and Five Year Olds” gives viewers and parents a fascinating insight into how children react to this milestone in their lives.

Once again, watching the action unfold are a team of expert psychologists. Three familiar faces returning this series are Dr Paul Howard Jones (Educational Neuroscientist, Bristol University), Dr Elizabeth Kilbey (Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Oxleas NHS Trust) and Dr Sam Wass (Developmental Psychologist, MCR Cognition & Brain Unit, Cambridge). We also welcome two brand new experts to the team, Dr Laverne Antrobus (Clinical Psychologist, Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust) and Dr Shona Goodall (Clinical Psychologist, Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Trust).

Executive Producer, Daniel Fromm, commented on the series returning: “We can’t wait to meet a new set of children and find out about the world through their eyes.”

Sara Ramsden Commissioning Editor, Channel 4 said: “At Channel 4 we are looking forward to meeting the next group of 4 and 5 year olds with diverse backgrounds from all over the country. It is a series that continues to fascinate and inform viewers of all ages”

Daniel Fromm and Jim Allen are the Executive Producers, Hannah Lowes is the Series Producer, and Osca Humphreys is the Series Director for RDF Television. Sara Ramsden is the Commissioning Editor for Channel 4. Banijay Group owns the worldwide rights to the format and finished programming.

4 episodes of the all new series are expected to broadcast later this year with a further 2 following in early 2018.
