London, 24 November 2016: Broadcast today unveiled the shortlist for their 2017 Awards, with RDF Television’s “Secret Life of 4, 5 & 6 Year Olds” shortlisted in the Best Factual Programme category, and RDF shortlisted for Best Independent Production Company.

Fresh from winning the Best Entertaining Documentary at this year’s Grierson Awards, “Secret Life of 4, 5 & 6 Year Olds” hopes to beat off stiff competition from “SAS: Who Dares Wins” and “The Island with Bear Grylls” amongst others. Teresa Watkins, Executive Producer and Creative Director of Development at RDF commented: “Having already won the Grierson, we are thrilled to be shortlisted for the Broadcast Award. Secret Life (sic) was Channel 4’s top performing factual series last year so we think it stands a very good chance, even with such strong contenders in the category”.

RDF Television is also nominated in the hotly contested Independent Production Company of The Year along with Big Talk, Twofour, Studio Lambert, ITN Productions and Sid Gentle Films.

Managing Director of RDF, Jim Allen said “It’s been a stellar year for RDF with numerous productions showing in prime-time slots across the broadcasters and daytime heavyweights “Dickinson’s Real Deal” and “Tipping Point” continuing to dominate ITV’s schedule. Bristol-based RDF West continues to lead the way in consumer factual programming with “Eat Well” and “Shop Well for Less?” and RDF’s entertainment brand Fizz established itself as a major player winning commissions for TLC, MTV as well as recently bringing back the much loved “Crystal Maze” for Channel 4 and Stand Up To Cancer. RDF is on a roll and the Broadcast Award would be perfect recognition for everyone’s tireless work, creativity and ingenuity.”

The Broadcast Awards will be held at the Grosvenor Hotel on February 1st, 2017. The event will award the best programming, production companies and broadcasters in the UK and will be decided by a panel of industry experts.

The new series of “The Secret Life of 5 Year Olds” is currently on Channel 4 with the next episode broadcasting on Tuesday 29th November at 8pm.
