ITV Daytime hit quiz show Tipping Point produced by RDF Television, has been commissioned for a series of prime time celebrity specials called Tipping Point Lucky Stars.
Following the success of the first two series and a third due to air soon on ITV Daytime, RDF Television have been commissioned to make the 12 x ‘60 minute series to air in an early evening weekend slot.
A game of knowledge, skill and tactics, Tipping Point is centred round an extraordinary machine filled with counters worth thousands of pounds. Players must answer questions to win turns on the machine. Get a question wrong and the machine won’t pay out. The player with the least amount of money at the end is eliminated.
Kate Madigan, ITV Entertainment Commissioner said: “I am delighted Tipping Point Lucky Stars is following Celebrity Chase on the path to primetime. Its mix of gripping gameplay together with a playful mix of celebrities promises to be a great addition to the weekend schedule.”
Peter Usher, Head of Entertainment, RDF Television said: “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity of taking the show into primetime and look forward to seeing celebrities get competitive not just with each other but also the extraordinary Tipping Point machine.”
The new prime time format will see the value of counters double to £100 and the jackpot will rise to £20,000. Four celebrities will compete in each show with the last player standing going head to head with the Tipping Point machine to win the golden jackpot disc. The money they win will be donated to a charity of their choice.
